Earth Hour 2015

WWF’s Earth Hour is the world’s largest grass-roots environmental movement towards action on climate change; and it involves a simple action: switching off the lights for one hour between 8.30pm-9.30 pm every year in March. Earth Hour falls on the last Saturday of every March.
This year, Earth Hour falls on March 28 at 8.30pm.

With each passing year, Earth Hour is becoming more than just an hour, more than just an action: it is becoming a movement and a platform. Last year, we saw Earth Hour 2014 inspire concrete change in Singapore, Australia, Uganda and Mali.

For Earth Hour 2015, we are asking you to use #YourPowerUAE to change climate change and be part of the solution by reducing your water consumption habits. The link between water and climate change can be confusing; however, it exists. Because the UAE has one of the highest water consumption measures per capita in the world, combined with the fact that we have so little freshwater resources, we get most of our water from the sea. The sea water goes through desalination, a very energy heavy process that removes the salt and minerals making it usable for human activities. This process causes a large amount of carbon emissions, which affect our atmosphere and therefore, our climate. Read more about the link between water and climate change.

Whether the weather be cold
Or whether the weather be hot;
We’ll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not.
